How many PCs do I need?
A separate computer/PC is needed for each recorded telephone extension.
Do my PCs need to be connected on a LAN?
All your PCs should be networked on the same LAN or WAN.
What sort of PCs do I need to run Veritape CallCentre?
Veritape CallCentre has been designed to work very efficiently, even on low-spec PCs. The following are the minimum requirements for PCs running each Veritape CallCentre module:
- Call recording module (Veritape Client)
- PII266, 64MB RAM (or equivalent)
- Windows 95/98/Me/NT4SP5/2000/XP
- Soundcard
- Network – minimum 10mbps
- Call Retrieval and playback module (Veritape Manager)
- PII266, 64MB RAM
- Windows 95/98/Me/NT4/2000/XP
- Soundcard with speakers or headphones
- Connected by LAN, WAN or VPN
- Server component (stores calls and related data)
- PII266 with 64MB RAM minimum recommended
- Any Windows operating system
- Must support connections from all the Client PCs
- Hard Disk size to match storage requirements
- Bulk archiving device available somewhere on the network, e.g. DAT, fast CD-R, DVD-R
- Can be one of your existing servers
Will I need expensive hardware upgrades or changes because of the disk space Veritape CallCentre requires?
Veritape CallCentre stores calls on local/desktop computers temporarily, both before they are copied to a file storage area, and also for the purposes of backup. Typical scenarios where calls are backed up locally for 2 days before automatic removal would require approximately 5-25 MB of local storage - Veritape has never had a customer who has needed to update the hardware of any local PC in order to run Veritape CallCentre. If required, local backups can be eliminated, further reducing local storage requirements.
What if our PCs don't have soundcards?
If your PCs do not have soundcards (which is very rare - most new PCs have onboard soundcards) then you will need to fit them. You do not need to purchase high-end soundcards, though. Perfectly good soundcards which work well with Veritape CallCentre are available for under approximately GBP10/USD15 - please contact Veritape Ltd if you would like advice about sourcing soundcards.
